Is it even possible to have a conversation with God, in the same everyday sense that we can have a conversation with another person? Neale Donald Walsch doesn’t claim to have literally heard the voice of God, but he claims that God spoke to him nonetheless, and that he has simply transcribed God’s words.* I don’t think I’m the right person to take a position on Walsch’s claim but I will say that he offers a beautiful and compelling vision of reality and our creative power. His book inspires the excitement and the feeling of recognition that we experience when encountering a deep insight or truth. Readers might find passages in Conversations with God, attributed to God, that sound more like Walsch. But maybe those passages reflect Walsch’s limitations, or the reader’s limitations in understanding them.

In the book, we are told that God encompasses all things, including us. God created us – a part of Himself – so He could experience Himself. A thing can only be experienced in relation to what it is not, and we find both good and bad in the world. But we are urged not to condemn what we call bad in the world. Rather, when we encounter conditions that are inconsistent with what we are or what we want to be, we need to take responsibility for them and ultimately change them through our creative power.

The discussion of this – the creative power that we share with God – is the most compelling part of the book. We are told that the creative process begins with thought, becomes more concrete through speech, and more concrete still through action. When we recognize our power to create, we recognize that we are responsible for what exists. This is obviously true on one level: “things are what you make of them” is a commonplace. We have all seen people live up to our high expectations or be dragged down by low ones. We have all transformed a bad situation into a good one (or maybe a good one into a bad one) through our thoughts and actions. But the assertion m

This 8 GB Class 6 SDHC card works just great wiht my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP3 14.1 MP Digital Camera. I have been able to take many pictures and videos without running out of space. I was also able to transfer then to my computer and external hard drive with no problems. The card just works well as it need to. Would buy again.

I rarely add my opinions to an Amazon entry when more than a dozen people have already weighed in and have already said it all. With 2400+ reviews posted and new ones added each day, this book doesn’t need my help or even another five-star review. It does, however, DESERVE the latter.

“The Help” is the best mainstream novel I have read in a good, long while. The fundamental subject matter is a fresh but important one. At its core, the book is about race relations in the Deep South in the early 1960s. The plot develops through the eyes of three characters: two black maids (Aibileen and Minny) and one white girl (Skeeter). Each chapter is written from the point of view of one of the women. This technique draws the reader into both social circles at once, offering insights that only insiders to either group can know. We become a part of the community of Jackson, Mississippi, through these pages. And the storyline is a captivating one that keeps us wondering and crossing our fingers for a positive outcome. After all, if Harriet Beecher Stowe’s little book helped to start the Civil War (as Abraham Lincoln once told her), then the realities of “Help” by Skeeter and the Jackson maids could easily become a significant enabler of the civil rights movements of the 1960s. But what will be the cost of its possible success to our characters and their friends?

I enjoyed reading this book because I learned much from it. I was a child of the ’60s but was born and raised in a white suburb north of the Mason-Dixon line. I knew nothing of life in Mississippi under the Jim Crow laws and segregation. Oh, you heard things, and you saw random events on the news. Eventually you read what the history books told you. But none of it seemed real or believable until someone like Ms. Stockett — a native of that time and that place and those circumstances — saw fit to poise a searchlight upon the situation. Kudos to her!

I could not put this book down! I am in my 30’s and started to read this as recommended by a friend. I loved it. I got everyone in the office to read it and my Mom- she’s very picky and in her 60’s. They all are hooked! Must read before seeing the movie.

Great concept, terrible execution. I have (used to have) two add-on hidden cameras connected to the WiLife system with regular in-door camera.
Power connector on the back of the camera/clock simply does not connect, if you finally wiggle it into woking position, every time you dust around it or even walk by, you are risking disconnecting the power. After a while (for me it was 2 and 6 weeks), hidden camera stops connecting to the server, just works as a clock. Amazon replaced the first failed camera, replacement stopped connecting after a couple of weeks. At this point, neither of two cameras connect, just using them as clocks, even that is frustrating because after the power loss the time has to be set, and that is a project since while pressing the buttons, the clock is losing power.
I am dreading contacting Logitech support for warranty replacement, had terrible experience while installing the system: I could not connect any of the cameras to the server, their solution was ‘install newer server software, we have an upgrade on the web-site’, turns out that I was attempting to connect through USB hub, as soon as I plugged directly to the USB port on my computer, all three cameras connected.

Like many others I have always thought of Linksys as a reputable company with a decent product for the cost. This is definately not the case with the Linksys Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera I have owned this camera for a while now and after many wasted hours of trying to get it to work reliably I have given up. Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. Even when it does work the picture is fuzzy and forget about getting a usable picture in any type of low light environment. Spend a bit more and get a better quality product.You will be wasting your money with this one.
Linksys Compact Wireless G

With the making of a Film based on this book and all of the rave reviews about it, I guess I had high expectations. Don’t get me wrong, I found most of it entertaining, but I think the story lacked in its development, and I never figured out why religion was ever even brought up among the characters in the earlier part of the book, when it apparently had nothing to do with the plot. The ending was also a bit of a let-down because it was just too “happily ever after” for me.

The funny thing is that I’m not a big fan of Circuses in general, but surprisingly, I found the source material to be rather fascinating, So, if anything, this book will propel me to look into more historical reading material on Circuses from the 19th century to the turn of the 20th Century.
